EPC - Organizational Consulting:

Most organizations and the individuals within them think, plan and execute tactically. What distinguishes EPC Organizational Consulting is the primary shift to strategic thinking, planning and execution. This is the art of taking in the "Big Picture" and organizing to it, rather than being driven by the hundreds or thousands of small, immediate crises that arise daily.

What distinguishes an organization that is operating in relation to the big picture is that they are designing and creating their future rather than being driven by their past.

This release from the constraints of the historical patterns that have bound and limited organizations in the past allows for a future consideration of what the "ideal" organization is like, and what it will take to get there. When the "ideal" is fully described it then becomes possible to design the "how" to attain it. The EPC Process is based in a teleological approach - the effect of the future perfect "ideal" pulling itself into creation. This is the same approach used by organizational and business innovators regardless of the time - Henry Ford, Walt Disney, Ray Kroc, Fred Smith and Sam Walton. These folks all went beyond the prevalent models of how things had been done up until then and created new forms to bring their ideas and creations into being.

Our consultants will work with you to take you through the EPC process and also to train you in the non-linear, non-sequential decision-making that is at the heart and core of the process itself. Not only will our consultants be alongside you as you discover and design the ideal organization, but you'll be developing the essential knowledge and skills to continue this process yourselves long after we've gone. An example of this kind of thinking is evident in what we refer to as the "Scope of Decision." This is a reference to how far from the point of the decision in time and space are the consequences of the decision being made considered. What we've found consistently in our work is that the best decisions and decision- makers take into consideration consequences much further out than most people ever consider regardless of the potential impact of the decision(s) being made.

EPC is the process that allows any organization to go beyond itself, to an idealized version of itself that exists in the future, and using the information gathered there bring that back to the present to organize the activities and actions necessary to create that future organization. This process follows the five general points and five steps listed above. It is highly structured and yet allows for almost endless variation and creativity.
